Aromatherapy has been known to have beneficial effects on those suffering from mild depression, or as a supplement to major depression sufferers who are also taking an antidepressant.  It is a treatment you can perform easily at home, for little expense.  The smells and aromas that the oils emit tend to activate and have a positive effect on the “limbic” system of the brain.  This is the area that is responsible for memories and emotions.
