Aromatherapy has been known to have beneficial effects on those suffering from mild depression, or as a supplement to major depression
sufferers who are also taking an antidepressant. It is a
treatment you can perform easily at home, for little expense. The
smells and aromas that the oils emit tend to activate and have a
positive effect on the “limbic” system of the brain.
This is the area that is responsible for memories and emotions.
Some believe, however, that the positive effects from aromatherapy
may be related to the belief of the patient that the treatment will be
effective, also known as the “placebo” effect. Here
are some of the aromas that are believed to be beneficial to those suffering from depression:

This is definitely not a proven cure for depression, but worth a try.
